Who We Are

Our church is made up of members of all ages, young and old. We share various interests, gifts, and talents with one another, along with our common desire for fellowship and growth in the Lord.

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in the USA (PCUSA). Guided by the Bible, the Book of Confessions and under the authority of the Book of Order:

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only Savior, acknowledge Him Head of the Church, and through Him believe in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through His grace, we believe in the promise of eternal life.

We accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, inspired and directed by the Holy Spirit, as the true, revealed and authoritative Word of God to all. The Scriptures are the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ in the Church universal, and God's Word to us. We believe that prayerful and diligent study of Scripture guides Christians in their relationship with God, with others, and their personal lives.

We seek to demonstrate and share the love of Jesus Christ in our own lives with our families and neighbors both near and far. We will work for reconciliation, justice and peace in our community and in the world.

We believe the Church is to provide opportunities for worship, prayer, education, Christian fellowship, and service in the name of Jesus Christ.

In our life together as a church we will try to show the love and justice of Jesus Christ to our community and to the world.

First United Presbyterian Church is a member of the Washington Presbytery.
